Information on the effects of September 11th is
extremely spread out on many websites. It was difficult to find an “official”
website that included information on all aspects of my topic. However, I did
find a personal blog that included a lot of the information. The blog is
effective in that it breaks down the various effects into categories and
includes a lot of great pictures, but the layout of the article seems to be
lacking. At first glance, the blog seems illegitimate. It takes a little
reading and knowledge about the subject to realize that the blogger actually
has a little bit of credibility on the subject. The blogger includes links to
her sources, but they are mostly lesser known obscure news sites. Even still, a
majority of the blog entries are entirely opinion and personal experience.
Reading the blog was actually a bit surprising. The blogger
agrees with most of my ideas, and even brings up some new things that I never
thought about. Political, economic, and social effects are addressed in the
blog just as in my topic. Another interesting topic that the blogger brings up
is the increase in racism after September 11, which I agree with wholly. There
has been a dramatic increase in discrimination towards Muslims since the
attacks. While I think a lot of the discrimination is a subconscious emotional
effect of the attacks, it still exists and is a problem in America today.
Yeah, this blog actually is really interesting. I ended up reading a few of the posts.
