The aviation
Reddit is full of interesting pictures, articles, and stories about aviation. I
could spend hours looking at all the information and pictures on the aviation Reddit,
as could any aviation lover. However, those within the aviation community
usually use aviation specific websites and message boards to talk about
aviation. I guess Reddit hasn’t really caught on with aviation nerds yet.
One interesting
article I found on the aviation Reddit was about the NASA rocket launch
tonight. The link is
here: http://www.nasa.gov/centers/wallops/news/west129.html
NASA is launching
Terrier Improved Orion rocket from Wallops Island, VA on January 29, 2013 in
order to test out different lithium vapors. NASA uses the lithium vapor to help
visualize certain space science phenomenon’s within the NASA Wallops
program, which is . During the launch, the public will be able to view intense
vapor trails from the rocket, which are sure to be a photogenic sight. The
lithium trails will be visible as far north as New York City, and as far south
as North Carolina. NASA also has more launches slated for the future in order
to further their testing of lithium gas. Although lithium poses no health
threats because it is being released into space and outside of the Earth’s
atmosphere, NASA expects that due to the intense color of the gas, the public
may panic thinking that they are being exposed to poisonous gas.
I didn't see that article about that rocket. It sounds really interesting and will definitely check it out. Thanks for the link.
